As a disposable particulate respirator, it is intended to reduce wearer and non-wearer exposure to certain airborne particles such as microorganisms, body fluids, and particulate material including those generated by electrocautery, laser surgery, and other powered medical instruments. It is important that you determine what style and size of mash is suitable for you. Before entering an unsafe environment, it is important to fit check your P2/N95 face mask. The fit checking process is done to ensure that the mask is successfully providing a seal over the bridge of the nose and mouth and that you have no gaps allowing air to enter between the mask and the face.
People with beards should shave before using a P2 mask as a good seal between the mask and the wearer’s face cannot be guaranteed if they have facial hair.
Selection of the most appropriate Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) will depend on the particular situation and should be made only by a competent person knowledgeable of the actual working conditions and the limitations of RPE. Before using any respirator, the wearer must read and understand the user instructions for the product. P2/N95 face masks should always be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and with AS/NZS 1715:2009 Standard. Misuse can result in sickness or death.
